Ronald Koeman Steps Down as Netherlands Head Coach
Ronald Koeman has announced his decision to step down as head coach of the Netherlands national team, bringing an emotional end to his second spell in charge of Oranje following their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Koeman reflected on a distinguished coaching career that included spells with Vitesse, Ajax, Benfica, PSV Eindhoven, Valencia, AZ Alkmaar, Feyenoord,
Southampton, Everton, FC Barcelona, and two stints with the Dutch national team. While expressing disappointment that the dream of winning the World Cup remained unfulfilled, he said he leaves with immense pride for the journey and the people who shaped his career.
Koeman also revealed how his wife's ongoing health battle had changed his perspective on life, describing her strength and unwavering support throughout his tenure as national coach. He thanked his players, coaching staff, the KNVB, club officials, and Dutch supporters for their trust, encouragement, and unforgettable memories.
Despite the disappointment of falling short of World Cup glory, Koeman said it had been a privilege to represent the Netherlands and concluded by expressing gratitude for the successes, challenges, and lifelong memories football has given him.
