Rujuta Diwekar shares best foods for healthy hair

Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar reveals simple diet tips to nourish hair roots naturally

Hair care is often limited to external treatments like oils, serums, and chemical-based products, but celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar highlights that true hair health begins from within. In her Instagram post on March 23, 2026, she explained that poor eating habits and restrictive diets—especially those cutting out carbs—can lead to weak hair roots and increased hair fall. She emphasized that proper nutrition plays a key role in maintaining hair strength, shine, and overall health.

Here are the key foods and habits she recommends:

1. Consume rice daily
Rujuta dismisses the myth that rice leads to weight gain. She states that rice is an essential part of a balanced diet and should be consumed at least once a day, as it supports both overall health and hair nourishment.

2. Add seasonal fruits
Fruits like amla (Indian gooseberry), guava, and mango are rich in vitamin C, which helps in iron absorption and improves hemoglobin levels. Good hemoglobin directly impacts hair strength, density, and appearance.

3. Eat pulses and legumes
Pulses such as moong, arhar, and chawli are rich in amino acids, vitamin B, and fibre. These nutrients help strengthen hair strands and reduce breakage and hair fall.

4. Include seeds in your diet
Haleem seeds are highly beneficial for hair and skin due to their folic acid content. Rujuta recommends consuming them in forms like laddus or kheer rather than raw with water, to get proper nutritional benefits.

5. Follow basic hair care habits
Along with diet, she advises oiling hair at least once a week for about 30 minutes, combing regularly, and avoiding excessive chemical treatments to maintain healthy hair.

Overall, her advice highlights a holistic approach—combining proper nutrition with simple care routines—to naturally strengthen hair from the roots.
