Suvendu Adhikari Vows Justice in RG Kar Case

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has called for justice in the RG Kar rape and murder case, saying that the demand for justice is shared by every citizen of the state.

Adhikari said the CBI investigation is underway and that investigators will proceed on the basis of documentary evidence. He added that the team handling the case has been changed and that a fresh investigation has begun under the supervision of the court.

The Chief Minister also highlighted administrative action taken by the state government following allegations of attempts to cover up the incident instead of conducting a proper investigation. According to Adhikari, IPS officers have been suspended, licences of doctors involved have been cancelled, and necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have been issued for filing charge-sheets in corruption cases.

He said the state government and the Health Department are taking all necessary steps on matters falling outside the CBI's investigation.

Adhikari further said the Health Department would take action against the alleged racket linked to the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of the doctor.

Paying tribute to the victim, whom he referred to as 'Abhaya', Adhikari said the recently inaugurated Abhaya Trust would work to preserve her memory. He said everyone would work together under Ratna Didi's leadership for the cause.

The Chief Minister also said he had directed the police to investigate issues outside the CBI's purview, including the alleged cremation-related scam. He further directed the police to take action against individuals captured in CCTV footage from the day of the incident.

The Chief Minister reiterated that all agencies must work within their respective jurisdictions while ensuring that justice is delivered in the case.
