Trump Warns Iran Over Houthi Attacks on Ships

President Donald Trump speaks as he warns Iran over Houthi attacks on ships in the Middle East.

U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that Iran will be held responsible if Yemen's Houthi rebels continue targeting ships in the Middle East, describing the group as a proxy of Tehran.

In a statement, Trump said, "If they do this again, the U.S. will hold Iran responsible, in that the Houthis are a Surrogate and/or Proxy of Iran, and major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran and, of course, the Houthis."


The president said he was disappointed after the Houthis, whom he claimed had acted "very professionally and smart" until now, opened fire on two Saudi Arabian ships overnight.

Trump's remarks underscore rising tensions in the region, with the United States signaling that any future Houthi attacks on maritime targets could trigger direct action against both the Houthis and Iran. The warning comes amid ongoing concerns over shipping security and regional stability in the Middle East.
