During a press conference at the Bucha Summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Russia’s recent claims regarding Donbas. Zelenskyy expressed skepticism about Moscow’s announced two-month timeline for capturing the region, calling it a “pressure tactic” rather than a genuine plan. He stated that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire at the current positions, describing it as a strong compromise aimed at advancing a diplomatic solution. Zelenskyy highlighted that Russia’s repeated shifting of timelines and conditions demonstrates that Donbas is not the only objective, making their broader ambitions clear. “Russia will not be able to capture anything within two months, and they understand this perfectly,” Zelenskyy said, noting that Moscow’s statements appear timed to influence the upcoming U.S. midterm elections. The Ukrainian President reiterated Ukraine’s readiness for dialogue while standing firm against external pressure, emphasizing the need for international awareness of Russia’s true objectives in the conflict.
