Addressing an election rally in Nadia, West Bengal, Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress over alleged remarks linked to promoting Urdu, asserting that Bengal’s identity is rooted in Bengali language and culture. He said the soil of Bengal belongs to Bangla and argued that the state’s cultural legacy should remain central to its future.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also referenced remarks attributed to a TMC MP and said Nadia’s spirit is shaped by devotion and civilizational values, invoking Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Mahakali as symbols of Bengal’s heritage. Framing the election as a contest over identity and culture, Adityanath sought to rally support around linguistic pride, religious symbolism, and nationalism.
His comments add to the intensifying political rhetoric in the West Bengal election campaign, where language, culture, and identity have emerged as major campaign themes.
