Midfielder From Bangladesh- Sanjida Akhter Will Be First Foreign Woman Footballer For The Club
Sanjida Akhter,22, is a dependable midfielder of Bangladesh women’s national football team. She was invited recently by the acclaimed Indian club, East Bengal FC, to play for them. She will be the first foreign woman footballer to represent the club. Receiving an NOC from the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), Sanjida applied for the Indian Visa. Elated at the opportunity, Akhter posted photographs of herself on social media in red and yellow apparel and captioned – Lal-Holud (Red-Yellow) proclaiming the official colours of the East Bengal FC.
Overcoming several societal barriers and inhibitions about girls playing football in her country, the young sportsperson is winning hearts with her talent, dedication, and optimism. In her home country, Sanjida Akhter was representing Basundhara Kings. She has already scored more than 10 goals for Bangladesh since she began playing at a professional level. She was among the Top 10 Footballers in the Under-16 AFC Championship, an achiever that remains immensely close to the sportswoman.
Sabina Khatun From Bangladesh Will Also Play In India
Notably, Sabina Khatun, the ace striker and skipper of the team, also went to India to play for Indian club Kickstart FC in the Indian Women’s Football League.
Both players have been invited by the Indian clubs to play for their respective teams in the Indian Women’s Football League weeks back. The BFF has provided them both a No Objection Certificate (NOC) so they could pursue their dreams in India and become an inspiration for their fellow players.
Sanjida Akhter is a self-confessed Christiano Ronaldo fan.
