Ahead of the crucial West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections 2026, senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s strategy, stating he is prepared to contest from any constituency assigned to him.
“I am a soldier of the party, and I will contest from wherever the party asks me to,” Chowdhury said, underlining discipline and unity within the ranks of the Indian National Congress.

His remarks come at a time when opposition parties in West Bengal are exploring possibilities of coordination to challenge the ruling All India Trinamool Congress led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, as well as counter the growing influence of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state.
Chowdhury also emphasized the need for a collective approach within the Congress, noting that party members are being encouraged to “fight the elections together,” a statement seen as a push for internal cohesion and potential broader opposition alignment.
The Congress, which has struggled to regain its traditional base in Bengal, is likely to focus on strategic seat-sharing and grassroots mobilization in the run-up to the elections.
Chowdhury’s stance signals a willingness among senior leadership to adapt to evolving political equations in a highly competitive electoral landscape.
With political activity intensifying across the state, all eyes are now on how alliances and candidate strategies shape up in the coming months.
