Adhir Chowdhury Urges Appellate Tribunals in Murshidabad Amid Voter List Deletion Concerns

Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has reportedly written to Suvendu Adhikari seeking the establishment of Appellate Tribunals in every block of Murshidabad district following concerns linked to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and deletion of voter names.

According to the concerns raised, around five lakh names were reportedly removed from voter lists in the district, creating difficulties for affected citizens. The request emphasizes that economically weaker and vulnerable sections may face significant challenges if they are required to travel long distances to pursue appeals and seek legal or administrative relief.

Chowdhury stressed that creating decentralized appellate mechanisms at the block level could help ensure easier access to justice and reduce hardship for residents affected by the voter list revision process.

The issue of electoral roll revisions and deletion of voter names has emerged as a key political debate in the state, with questions being raised regarding accessibility, transparency, and the impact on citizens.
