Amit Shah Challenges Rahul Gandhi to Debate on SIR, Offers Special Parliament Session
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched a sharp political attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over allegations of large-scale voter deletions during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Rejecting the Congress leader’s claims, Shah questioned why the party had suffered electoral defeats in several elections even when no SIR exercise was conducted.
Rahul Baba, where was the SIR in 2014? You were wiped out even then. Where was the SIR in 2019? You lost again. There was no SIR in 2024 either, yet you lost once more. No SIR in Haryana. No SIR in Maharashtra. You lost everywhere. And now you claim that one crore votes have been deleted! I want to challenge Rahul ji directly. You challenge PM Narendra Modi to a discussion? If you genuinely want a debate, simply write a letter to PM Modi. We are ready to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss SIR. - Shri @AmitShah #SaveDemocracyRemoveAnarchy Watch full video: https://t.co/h2w7DpeUc9

Referring to the 2014, 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, as well as the Assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra, Shah argued that Congress had lost repeatedly without any SIR-related controversy. He also challenged Rahul Gandhi's allegation that nearly one crore votes had been deleted, questioning the basis of the claim.
Taking the challenge further, Shah directly invited Rahul Gandhi to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi if he genuinely wanted a debate on the issue. He said the government was ready to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), turning the electoral roll controversy into a direct political challenge to the Congress leadership.
Shah's remarks have intensified the political confrontation between the BJP and Congress over electoral transparency, voter registration and the SIR exercise.
