‘Animal’, with Ranbir Kapoor in the leading role is off to a roaring start worldwide. As per latest reports,
Day 1 collections (the film was released on December 01, 2023) have minted a cool 116 Cr worldwide,
crossing Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Jawaan already. It is well on its way to be a blockbuster aptly
complementing the buzz that it had built up over the past few weeks.
It is also a new record for Ranbir Kapoor as he returns to scorch the big screen after a relatively dull
period of performances. Starring in the film that is about a dysfunctional son’s over-obsessive love for
his high-flying business magnate father who has scant time for progeny, this second directorial venture
of Sandeep Vanga Reddy in Hindi has Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Doel, and Triptii Dimri in
other important roles.
Despite a lot of nay-nays (excessive blood, gore, abuse, and violence, length of over 3 hours, an A
rating), it seems that audiences across the globe have found the film immensely entertaining and worth
watching. Surprising and shocking at every turn, it is keeping audiences firmly glued to their seats who
feel it is emotionally touching and has the makings of a “cult film”.

Though audience reaction has been largely phenomenal it must be mentioned that a lot of reviewers
have shot down the storyline emphasizing how it glorifies the alpha male who will stop at nothing to do
his will. They have reminded how Animal full of red flags and the hype and reaction around it effectively
minimizes the message of socially relevant films of the days from smaller banners and non-star cast.
