Centre Unveils ₹1.25 Lakh Crore Rural Development Package; New Framework to Launch from July 1
The Central Government has announced a major ₹1.25 lakh crore rural development push aimed at strengthening employment generation, infrastructure development, and overall socio-economic growth in rural India.

Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, chaired a high-level meeting of State Rural Development Ministers to review the implementation strategy of the upcoming VB G RAM G framework, scheduled to be rolled out from July 1.
During the meeting, the Union Minister assessed the preparedness of states and union territories for what is being described as a landmark transition in India's rural development landscape. Discussions focused on ensuring seamless implementation, effective utilization of resources, and achieving measurable outcomes in rural employment and village development.
As part of the initiative, the Centre has made an interim allocation of ₹95,692 crore to accelerate rural employment opportunities, strengthen local infrastructure, and improve livelihoods across villages. The funding is expected to support key development schemes and enhance the pace of rural transformation.
The new framework aims to create a more integrated and outcome-driven approach to rural development, focusing on sustainable growth, employment generation, community participation, and improved quality of life for rural citizens.
The government believes the initiative will play a crucial role in advancing inclusive growth and realizing the vision of a self-reliant and developed rural India.
