Major Education Milestone: India Welcomes 3 Top Global Universities with Campuses in Mumbai and Bengaluru
India has taken a significant step towards becoming a global education destination as Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan handed over Letters of Approval (LoAs) to three internationally renowned universities from the United Kingdom and Australia to establish campuses in India.

The approved institutions include the University of Bristol (UK) and the University of York (UK), both of which will establish campuses in Mumbai, while the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, will set up its campus in Bengaluru.

The initiative aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which promotes the internationalisation of higher education by attracting leading global universities to India while encouraging Indian institutions to expand their global presence.
The upcoming campuses will offer cutting-edge academic programmes and research opportunities in future-focused fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber Security, Data Science, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Creative Industries, Immersive Arts, Renewable Energy, Health Sciences, Transport and Education Technology.
Mumbai and Bengaluru, recognised as India's leading centres for innovation, technology and knowledge creation, will provide an ideal ecosystem for these institutions to collaborate with industry, academia and research organisations.
The development reflects growing global confidence in India's higher education ecosystem and marks another milestone in the country's journey towards becoming a global knowledge hub. The move is expected to create world-class learning opportunities for Indian students while supporting the broader vision of Viksit Bharat and empowering the nation's youth with globally relevant skills and education.
