At the launch of the Sunday Football League for Indian Diaspora Kids, we sat down with B.S. Mubarak, Consul General at the Consulate General of India in Frankfurt, to explore how football is becoming something far greater than a sport — a cultural bridge between generations and geographies.
This grassroots initiative — powered by FSV Frankfurt, the India Football Centre, and the vibrant Indian community in Germany — is designed to give young Indian-origin children the opportunity to stay rooted in their heritage while daring to dream big through sport.
“This initiative plants the seeds of cultural confidence through sport,” said Mr. Mubarak.
“It allows children to stay connected to their roots while growing into global citizens.”
In a world where identity can sometimes feel stretched between continents, this league offers clarity and hope. It empowers a generation of diaspora children to embrace their dual heritage — not as a conflict, but as a strength.
Here, football becomes more than a game.
It becomes belonging.
It becomes pride.
It becomes possibility.
💬 Watch till the end for Mr. Mubarak’s heartfelt reflections on what football truly means when it’s played with heart, history, and hope.
