DK Shivakumar: 'CM Chair Belongs to the People, Not Me'; Promises Collective Governance in Karnataka

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has emphasized that the Chief Minister's chair belongs to the people and not to any individual, pledging to dedicate his leadership to public service and collective decision-making.

Sharing his thoughts on social media after assuming office and holding the first Cabinet meeting at Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar said that the authority entrusted to him by the people would be used solely for their welfare.

He stressed that his government would prioritize public service above personal opinions and political considerations.

"The CM chair does not belong to D.K. Shivakumar; it belongs to the people. I will dedicate the power given by the people to the service of the people," he stated.
Reflecting on his political journey,

Shivakumar highlighted the importance of remembering one's roots and learning from the past. He described his appointment as Chief Minister as a new opportunity given by both the Congress party and the people of Karnataka to serve the state.

The veteran leader acknowledged that his political career has seen both criticism and praise over the years but maintained that meaningful work ultimately leaves a lasting impact. Drawing on nearly four decades of political experience, he pledged to bring fresh energy and new direction to the state's administration.

Shivakumar also underscored his commitment to inclusive governance, stating that every decision taken by his government would be collective rather than individual.

"Every decision of this government will not be merely Shivakumar's decision. It will be a collective decision," he said, reaffirming his vision for a participatory and people-centric administration.

The remarks come as the new Karnataka government begins its tenure with promises of transparency, accountability, and development-focused governance.
