Donald Trump Announces Landmark US-Iran Deal, Says Strait of Hormuz to Fully Reopen and Iran Agrees to Nuclear Restrictions

In a significant development with far-reaching implications for global security and energy markets, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States and Iran have reached a major agreement aimed at easing tensions and ensuring stability in the Middle East.

Speaking during a high-level meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump revealed that the deal has been finalized and that the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz is already beginning to reopen to maritime traffic.

"The deal is all signed and the Strait is already partially opened. Ships are starting to go out now and on Friday it will be completely opened," Trump said.

The US President emphasized that relations with Iran have improved under what he described as a new leadership group in Tehran. He praised the current Iranian leadership as "very smart" and "strong," saying the negotiations ultimately led to a successful agreement before additional military action became necessary.

Trump noted that he had considered extending military operations but chose diplomacy after progress was made at the negotiating table.
"I felt badly the way I had to go back on the attack for two nights and I thought a third, but we made it before that happened," he stated.

A key component of the agreement, according to Trump, is Iran's commitment not to pursue nuclear weapons. He described this provision as the most important outcome of the negotiations.

"The main thing is that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. They fully agreed to that," Trump said.

The President also highlighted the immediate economic impact of the agreement, pointing to falling oil prices and a strong rally in stock markets as signs of growing investor confidence.

"I think a lot of great things are going to happen to the Middle East right now. Very importantly, the oil is plummeting down and the stock market is shooting up like a rocket today," he added.

The Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world's oil supply passes, has long been a focal point of geopolitical tensions. Any disruption to shipping in the waterway can have major consequences for global energy markets and international trade.

The announcement is being closely watched by world leaders, investors, and energy markets, as it could mark a new chapter in US-Iran relations and contribute to broader stability across the Middle East.
While details of the agreement have yet to be fully disclosed, Trump's remarks suggest that both sides are seeking a diplomatic path forward after months of heightened tensions.

Observers say the success of the deal will ultimately depend on implementation, verification mechanisms, and the willingness of both nations to maintain constructive engagement in the months ahead.
