Historic Egypt Advance After Thrilling Iran Draw
Egypt created history by reaching the FIFA World Cup knockout stage for the first time after a dramatic 1-1 draw against Iran in their final Group G match at Seattle Stadium.

The Pharaohs took an early lead when Mahmoud Saber tapped home after goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand parried Mohamed Salah's deflected effort. Iran had a golden chance to equalize from the penalty spot, but Mostafa Shobeir brilliantly denied Mehdi Taremi.

Iran eventually found the breakthrough through Ramin Rezaeian, who reacted quickest to score after another outstanding save from Shobeir. The Egyptian goalkeeper continued his impressive display, making several crucial stops to preserve the draw.
With Belgium defeating New Zealand in the other Group G fixture, Egypt secured second place and booked a historic Round of 32 clash against Australia.
Iran thought they had snatched a late winner through Shoja Khalilzadeh, but VAR ruled the goal out for offside before Shobeir produced another key save in stoppage time to secure Egypt's qualification.
Iran's hopes of advancing now depend on results in Groups J, K and L, as they await confirmation of whether they will progress as one of the tournament's best third-placed teams.

After the match, Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan praised his team's achievement, saying they were proud to remain unbeaten in a difficult group and were ready to face any opponent in the knockout stage.
