French President Emmanuel Macron has welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States, calling it “the best possible decision” after holding direct conversations with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump. Macron emphasized that strict adherence to the ceasefire across all conflict zones—including Lebanon—is essential to ensure its credibility and long-term success. He underlined that this truce must serve as a foundation for broader diplomatic negotiations aimed at securing stability across the Middle East. Highlighting key concerns, Macron stated that any future agreement must address Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, along with its regional policies and actions affecting maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. The French President also revealed that he held discussions with leaders from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Iraq to build a coordinated international effort toward peace. He reaffirmed that France is ready to play a proactive role alongside its regional and global partners. Macron stared by stressing that only comprehensive dialogue and multilateral cooperation can pave the way for a durable and inclusive peace in the region.
