In a significant development for India’s energy supply chain, the India-flagged LPG vessel Green Asha has successfully crossed the strategically sensitive Strait of Hormuz and safely docked at the liquid berth of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), operated by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Indian Oil Corporation.
This marks the first such arrival at JNPA since the escalation of tensions and conflict involving Iran, United States, and Israel, underlining the resilience of global maritime operations amid geopolitical uncertainties.
The vessel transported approximately 15,400 tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), a critical resource for domestic and industrial consumption across India. Authorities have confirmed that the vessel, its cargo, and all crew members are safe and secure.
The successful journey and docking of Green Asha highlight the robustness of India’s maritime logistics and its ability to maintain uninterrupted energy supplies even during complex international crises. It also reinforces confidence in shipping routes passing through high-risk zones, ensuring that essential commodities continue to reach the country without disruption.
Officials noted that such operations demonstrate strategic preparedness and coordination between port authorities and energy companies, safeguarding national interests during volatile global situations.
