The two leaders announced the Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation, marking a significant step forward in the depth and ambition of bilateral defence ties. The declaration aims to strengthen collaboration in response to the increasingly complex strategic environment while contributing to regional peace and security.
Recognising the Indo-Pacific as central to their shared strategic vision, the Prime Ministers also launched the India-Australia Maritime Security Collaboration Roadmap.
The roadmap is designed to enhance maritime cooperation, strengthen regional security, and promote a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
Both leaders reiterated their commitment to a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific, emphasising the importance of respecting international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). They reaffirmed support for freedom of navigation and overflight and stressed that disputes must be resolved peacefully through dialogue and international law.
The joint statement also expressed strong opposition to any unilateral or destabilising actions that seek to alter the regional status quo, underscoring the shared commitment of India and Australia to safeguarding peace, stability, and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific.
The announcements reflect the growing strategic convergence between New Delhi and Canberra as both nations continue to deepen defence, maritime, and regional security cooperation.
