India Women Seal LA 2028 Olympic Cricket Berth
India's women's cricket team has officially secured qualification for the cricket competition at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, becoming one of the first four teams to book a place in the historic event.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that India, Australia, Great Britain, and South Africa have earned direct qualification for the women's T20 tournament, marking a major milestone ahead of cricket's return to the Olympics after more than a century.
The qualification reflects India's consistent performances in international women's cricket and strengthens the team's medal hopes at LA 2028.
Meanwhile, the road is more challenging for the Indian men's team. To secure direct qualification, India must finish as Asia's highest-ranked team in the ICC Men's T20 International rankings by the end of this year. Failing that, the team may have to rely on an alternative qualification pathway, subject to the final tournament qualification rules.
Cricket's inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics is expected to significantly boost the sport's global reach, with both the men's and women's competitions set to be played in the T20 format. India's women's team will now turn its attention to preparing for the Olympic challenge, while the men's side aims to strengthen its ranking in the coming months.
