Jay-Z to perform at Super Bowl halftime show in February 2027
Jay-Z will lead the Super Bowl halftime performance at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on February 14, 2027, the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced on Monday night. The appearance brings the rapper onto a stage his company has helped produce.
Roc Nation has worked with the NFL on entertainment since 2019, advising on presentations including the halftime event. The upcoming performance follows years in which Jay-Z’s connection to the show centred on its production.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said he had wanted the artist to perform when the league first began its partnership with Roc Nation. The timing, he said, had been left to the rapper.
Announcement follows anniversary concerts
Jay-Z recently concluded concerts marking 30 years since Reasonable Doubt, his debut album released in 1996. SoFi Stadium was among the stops, following appearances at Yankee Stadium and in London and Paris.
In a statement accompanying the halftime announcement, he reflected on the progression from his first album to the Super Bowl stage. He described the opportunity as another milestone after three decades of music and cultural work.
The artist has won 25 Grammy Awards from 89 nominations. His albums also include The Blueprint and The Black Album, while his songs include 99 Problems and the Alicia Keys collaboration Empire State of Mind.
Reasonable Doubt entered the Grammy Hall of Fame last year. His career has also extended into business: he co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records and established Roc Nation in 2008 to work with musicians and athletes.
He became the first rapper admitted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017 and entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. Roc Nation will serve as executive producer of the February halftime show, with Hamish Hamilton directing.
