JP Nadda and CM Suvendu Adhikari Discuss Healthcare Expansion in West Bengal

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda reviewed the healthcare systems in West Bengal during a virtual meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, focusing on strengthening healthcare delivery and accelerating implementation of key public health initiatives.

The review meeting covered major flagship healthcare programmes including the National Health Mission (NHM), PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), and other ongoing initiatives aimed at improving healthcare access and infrastructure across the state.

During the discussions, the Union Government reiterated its commitment to supporting West Bengal in strengthening healthcare systems and ensuring effective implementation of national health programmes.

As part of financial support under NHM, the Centre has released ₹527.58 crore as the first tranche from the total allocation of ₹3,505.59 crore for West Bengal, providing a significant boost to healthcare development and service delivery in the state.

The meeting also focused on several critical public health priorities, including the HPV vaccination drive, TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY MoU implementation, immunisation programmes, maternal and child healthcare, and measures to improve quality healthcare services.

Both the Centre and the West Bengal government reaffirmed their commitment to collaborative efforts aimed at delivering better health outcomes and ensuring accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for citizens across the state.
