Kharge Slams Modi Government Over Fuel Price Hike, Calls It “Slow Poisoning” for Common People

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government over the recent rise in fuel prices, accusing the administration of gradually burdening the common people through repeated increases.

Speaking on the issue of rising fuel costs and inflation, Kharge described the government's approach as “a kind of slow poisoning” that is deeply affecting economically weaker sections of society. He alleged that the government repeatedly raises prices in small phases, causing a sustained impact on household budgets.

Kharge further claimed that sharp price increases within a short period indicate a lack of focus on public concerns. He questioned the government's economic priorities, stating that inflation, unemployment, and the closure of MSMEs and small-scale industries could create larger economic challenges for the country.

The Congress president also criticized what he described as a disconnect between the government's public messaging and the economic hardships being faced by ordinary citizens. The remarks come amid continuing political debate over inflation, fuel pricing, and the broader impact on the Indian economy.

The fuel price issue remains a politically sensitive topic, with opposition parties increasing pressure on the government over cost-of-living concerns and economic growth challenges.
