Lovepreet Singh Wins CWG 2026 Weightlifting Silver

Indian weightlifter Lovepreet Singh delivered a remarkable performance to win the silver medal in the Men's +110kg super-heavyweight category at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, upgrading the bronze medal he won at Birmingham 2022.
Competing at the Scottish Exhibition Centre, the 28-year-old recorded a combined lift of 388kg (176kg Snatch + 212kg Clean & Jerk), setting new national records and a Commonwealth Games snatch record. However, he narrowly missed out on the gold medal by just 1kg.

Lovepreet dominated the snatch competition, successfully lifting 168kg, 173kg, and a record-breaking 176kg on his final attempt. His impressive performance gave him a 10kg advantage over New Zealand's David Andrew Liti heading into the clean and jerk.

In the clean and jerk, the Indian lifter successfully completed 205kg and 212kg, before attempting 217kg on his final lift in a bid to secure gold. The decisive lift proved unsuccessful.

Capitalizing on the opportunity, David Andrew Liti produced a superb 223kg clean and jerk on his final attempt to finish with a 389kg total, edging Lovepreet by just 1kg to claim the gold medal.

England's Andrew Griffiths took home the bronze medal with a total lift of 356kg.
Despite the narrow defeat, Lovepreet's silver medal marks another significant achievement for Indian weightlifting and adds to India's growing medal tally at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
