Mahua Moitra Targets Rebel TMC MPs, Raises Delimitation Issue
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra on Saturday criticised the government's stance on the proposed delimitation exercise, saying there was no clear mention of the issue despite repeated concerns raised by opposition parties.
Speaking to reporters, Moitra said the opposition had consistently demanded clarity on the implementation of delimitation, particularly in the context of the Women's Reservation Bill passed in 2023.
"There was nothing which has been mentioned on the delimitation bill. What our point and all the opposition points were was that the Women's Reservation Bill has already been passed in 2023... Nothing was said very clearly on the issue of delimitation," she said.
The TMC leader also addressed the ongoing political developments within her party, claiming that several Trinamool Congress MPs who allegedly rebelled against the party are still awaiting disqualification.
"As of now, the TMC MPs awaiting disqualification... There is no mention of NCPI in the list from the table office. There are 20 traitor TMC MPs awaiting disqualification," Moitra stated.
Her remarks come amid continuing political debate over the proposed delimitation process and the status of lawmakers facing disqualification proceedings. The issue is expected to remain a key point of contention between the ruling government and the Opposition during the ongoing parliamentary discussions.
