Mamata Banerjee Leads Kolkata Rally Against LPG Price Rise and Supply Concerns

Central Kolkata witnessed a massive show of political mobilisation as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led a large procession through the Dharmatala area. The march concluded at a heavily secured stage at Dorina Crossing and was organised as a protest against the Central Government over concerns surrounding rising LPG prices and reported shortages in cylinder supply.

Thousands of supporters, party workers and residents gathered along the route as the rally moved through key parts of central Kolkata. The demonstration was organized by the ruling All India Trinamool Congress to protest what the party described as the financial burden on households and small businesses caused by rising cooking gas prices and disruptions in the supply of commercial LPG cylinders.

Addressing the gathering, Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central Government of ignoring the struggles of ordinary citizens and failing to control fuel price escalation. She reiterated that her government would continue to raise its voice on issues affecting the common people.

In a message shared on social media after the rally, the Chief Minister thanked participants for their support and described Bengal as a “battleground for protecting the rights of ordinary people.” She also reaffirmed her government’s opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens, stating that such policies would not be implemented in West Bengal.

The rally highlighted concerns over the growing hardship faced by ordinary citizens due to rising cooking gas prices and alleged disruptions in LPG supply. Leaders of the All India Trinamool Congress urged the Central Government to review its fuel pricing policies and ensure an adequate and uninterrupted supply of LPG cylinders so that households and small businesses are not adversely affected.
