Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari Visits Hospital to Meet Ailing Actor Mithun Chakraborty
Veteran actor and BJP campaigner Mithun Chakraborty is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital near Kolkata’s Eastern Metropolitan Bypass following surgery on his hand.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited the hospital on Friday morning to enquire about the actor’s health. He met Mithun Chakraborty and later spoke to the treating doctors, seeking details about his current medical condition.
According to hospital sources, the veteran actor, popularly known as ‘Mahaguru’, underwent surgery on his hand. His condition is reportedly stable and he is responding well to treatment. He may be discharged within the next couple of days, sources said.
Adhikari left his residence in Chinar Park on Friday morning and headed directly to the private hospital near the Bypass after learning that the veteran actor had been admitted.
Mithun Chakraborty had remained actively involved in the BJP’s campaign during the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections despite his age and health concerns. He participated in several roadshows and public rallies across the state. On some occasions, he reportedly fell ill during campaigning, but continued with his political engagements.
The veteran actor had campaigned extensively for the BJP with the stated objective of bringing about a political change in West Bengal.
After taking oath as Chief Minister of West Bengal, Adhikari had earlier visited Mithun Chakraborty at his residence in New Town. The Chief Minister’s latest hospital visit comes soon after news of the actor’s admission emerged, highlighting the close rapport between the two.
