Veteran superstar Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata and had to undergo MRI. His son Mimoh has told the media that it was ‘a routine checkup’. Mithun Chakraborty, leading star of the 80s was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata after he complained of chest pain on Saturday morning. As per reports, the actor said that he was feeling uneasy, upon which he was taken to the hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Family Has Responded, Called It ‘a Routine Checkup’
His elder son Mimoh Chakraborty told a media website, “He (Mithun Chakraborty) is 100 percent fine and it’s a routine checkup.”
As per news agency PTI, officials of the Kolkata hospital, where Mithun is undergoing treatment said the actor underwent an MRI and other tests are currently being conducted. “Mithun Chakraborty has been admitted this morning and is undergoing medical evaluation. We will be able to provide further details later,” said the hospital spokesperson.
The veteran actor was brought to the hospital around 10.30 am after he complained of uneasiness in the chest. “The reports of the MRI are awaited. He is currently under the supervision of a neuro-medicine specialist,” a doctor at the hospital told the news agency.
The actor is part of the film ‘Shastri and ’was in Kolkata for its filming.
Padma Bhushan Awardee
Mithun has been seen as a celebrity judge in a Bangla dance reality on television. show Dance Bangla Dance. He was honoured with the Bhushan in January 2024.
In a recent interview, Mithun Chakraborty’s son Mimoh Chakraborty expressed happiness over his father being awarded the Padma Bhushan. He said, “I have no words to describe this feeling of euphoria and joy. It is such an honour to feel this moment of pride… Dad is truly deserving of this award and I am so grateful to our government and institutions for honouring dad with this prestigious award. I am so grateful and full of joy right now. Touchwood.”
The veteran actor has acted in over 325 films in Bengali, Hindi, Bhojpuri, Odia, and Tamil, and other regional Indian languages. He was the heartthrob of millions of Indians for his acting skills dance moves in films in the 80s and dominated the Hindi film landscape as a male actor.
He remarked he could not bring himself to believe the news when he first heard that he was being awarded the Padma Bhushan.
In a video message last month, the 73-year-old actor said, “After a lot of struggle and hard work, I have finally received such an honour… It is a feeling I can’t express. I am dedicating this to all my fans in India and abroad, who have given me unconditional love.”
Mithun is among the 17 Padma Bhushan recipients this year. He made his debut in Mrinal Sen’s film, Mrigayaa in 1976 opposite Mamata Shankar. Many film critics believe he continues to be one of the most underrated actors in the country.
