Mohan Bhagwat Explains Bharat’s Tradition of Unity and Friendship

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat highlighted Bharat’s tradition of friendship, compassion and unity in diversity while addressing the ‘Hindu Vishwa Bandhu – Embrace the World in Friendship’ event in Toronto.

Speaking at the event, Bhagwat said that whenever Bharat has been asked for help anywhere in the world, it has never refused.

He said the country extends a helping hand even without being asked, describing this as part of the “DNA of Bharat” and its longstanding tradition.

Bhagwat also referred to the saying, “If Hindus awaken, the world awakens,” while explaining the broader worldview associated with the Hindu tradition.

He said Hindus are taught to regard both the animate and inanimate as their own and to recognise unity within diversity. According to Bhagwat, this perspective means diversity does not become an obstacle to unity in India.

“Not only is there unity in diversity, but diversity itself is a form of unity,” Bhagwat said, emphasising the idea of coexistence and harmony within Indian civilisational thought.

His remarks at the Toronto event focused on India’s approach to global friendship, its tradition of extending assistance and the cultural idea of finding unity amid diversity.
