Narendra Modi on Service: BJP Governance and Viksit Bharat 2047

Narendra Modi service governance remained at the centre of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message on Thursday as he said that service has been the core principle of the BJP’s governance and values.

Addressing participants of the Seva Sankalp Yatra through video conference, Modi said that political power would not change the party’s commitment to serving citizens and working towards nation-building.

The Prime Minister interacted with young participants of the yatra, which is travelling from Vadnagar in Gujarat to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The participants were in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district when the interaction took place. The yatra is being organised in connection with Modi’s 76th birthday and 25 years of his public life as an elected representative.

Narendra Modi says service will remain central to governance

Speaking to the participants, Modi said that politics, elections and governance have their respective roles, but the larger objective should remain the development of the country.

According to the Prime Minister, the focus should be on building the nation and taking India forward rather than allowing electoral politics to become the sole objective of public life.

He said that from Gujarat to Delhi, service has remained central to the governance approach and values he associates with his political journey. He also referred to the principle of “Nagrik Devo Bhava”, or the idea that citizens should be treated with the highest respect.

The Prime Minister said that governance rooted in service should ensure that policies and administrative decisions remain connected to citizens and their needs.

The emphasis on service also echoes the Union government’s Seva Sankalp Resolution, adopted in February 2026, which described governance as being guided by service, duty, dedication, constitutional values and citizen-centric administration.
