Donald Trump announced a high-stakes and complex military operation that successfully rescued two American airmen from Iran, describing it as a testament to the United States’ unwavering commitment to its soldiers. Addressing a press conference, Trump revealed that he had authorized the U.S. armed forces to take all necessary measures to ensure the safe return of the personnel. Emphasizing the military’s ethos, he stated, “In the United States military, we leave no American behind,” underscoring the mission’s significance. The President disclosed that the second phase of the rescue operation was particularly extensive, involving as many as 155 aircraft. He noted that elements of deception and strategic maneuvering played a critical role in the mission’s success, as forces worked to mislead adversaries about the airmen’s location amid what he described as a “vast military presence” searching for them. Highlighting the risks involved, Trump praised the courage and intelligence of the U.S. forces, saying that as Commander-in-Chief, he never forgets the extraordinary dangers faced by troops deployed in such operations. He commended their bravery and strategic brilliance, calling the mission a reflection of both “risk” and “genius.” The operation marks a significant moment in U.S. military action and reinforces Washington’s long-standing doctrine of ensuring the safe return of its personnel, even under the most challenging circumstances.
