PM Modi highlights sports as a pillar of India-Australia ties during his visit to the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground with PM Anthony Albanese.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted the growing importance of sports in strengthening the India-Australia relationship, describing it as a powerful bridge that brings the people of both nations closer through shared passion and mutual respect.

Sharing his thoughts on social media after visiting the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Modi emphasized the role of sports diplomacy in deepening bilateral ties.

"Sport is a key pillar of the India-Australia partnership, bringing our people closer through shared passion and mutual respect," the Prime Minister said.

Expressing his delight at visiting one of the world's most historic sporting venues, Modi said the MCG symbolizes the shared love for sport that unites India and Australia.

The Prime Minister also underlined the importance of expanding sporting exchanges, youth engagement, and institutional collaboration between the two countries to further strengthen their long-standing friendship.

His remarks come as India and Australia continue to deepen cooperation through the newly launched India-Australia Sports Collaboration Roadmap, aimed at promoting partnerships in sports science, athlete development, major sporting events, and grassroots sports while reinforcing the broader strategic relationship between the two nations.
