Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation from the Red Fort on Independence Day, highlighting India’s rapid progress across key sectors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted India’s rapid progress across digital technology, manufacturing, infrastructure and social welfare sectors over the past 12 years.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort after hoisting the National Flag on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, Modi said the pace of progress witnessed during this period was unprecedented since Independence.

Highlighting key achievements, the Prime Minister said defence production has increased fourfold, electronic manufacturing sevenfold, high-tech railway coach production 21-fold and mobile phone manufacturing 33-fold over the past 12 years.

Modi also underlined India’s advances in the digital and innovation sectors. He said the number of internet users has increased fourfold, while the grant of patents has also risen fourfold. Digital transactions, he added, have registered a massive increase.

The Prime Minister said these achievements reflect the scale and speed of India’s transformation across multiple sectors, driven by technological innovation, manufacturing capabilities and expanding digital infrastructure.
