PM Modi Says Government Has Broken the Backbone of Maoist Terrorism in India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the government had given security forces the freedom to take necessary decisions in the fight against Left-Wing Extremism, crediting this approach with breaking the backbone of Maoist terrorism.

Addressing a gathering in Bastar, the Prime Minister criticised previous governments, alleging that security personnel were not given adequate freedom to respond to Naxalite attacks.

"Previous governments had also kept the hands of security personnel fighting on the ground tied. Naxalite attacks would take place, but security forces did not have the freedom to retaliate openly. We gave the security forces the freedom to take all necessary decisions," PM Modi said.
He further alleged that certain individuals within the government and administrative system had extended support to Left-Wing Extremism. The Prime Minister said his government worked to end such support and adopted a sensitive, people-centric approach to tackle Maoist violence.
PM Modi also highlighted the government's efforts to improve the lives of people living in Naxal-affected regions, stating that development and public service played a significant role in winning the battle against Maoism.
He noted that people who had suffered due to Naxalism had extended their support to the government and security forces. The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to citizens who had made significant contributions to the fight against Maoist terrorism.
