PM Modi Announces Tough New Law Against Paper Leaks, Fast-Track Courts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the Union Cabinet will discuss a major proposal on Friday aimed at strengthening India's fight against examination paper leaks through stricter legal provisions, fast-track courts and tougher punishment for offenders.

In a video message, the Prime Minister said the government has already taken decisive action following the recent paper leak incident, with the accused arrested and lodged in jail. He stressed that protecting the future of students remains the government's highest priority.

Modi said one of the government's immediate objectives was to ensure that students did not lose an academic year. He noted that the administration worked with full force to conduct examinations for nearly 22 lakh students in the shortest possible time and successfully declared the results on July 19.

The Prime Minister also revealed that he had directed the concerned departments to prepare a proposal for establishing fast-track courts to ensure speedy trials in paper leak cases. The proposal, which also includes provisions for harsher punishment, was submitted late at night and will be placed before the Union Cabinet for approval.

He added that after incorporating suggestions from Cabinet colleagues, the government intends to introduce the legislation during the second week of the ongoing Parliament session, with efforts to secure its passage at the earliest.

The proposed legislation is expected to significantly strengthen the legal framework against examination-related fraud and reinforce the government's commitment to safeguarding the interests of students.
