The meeting took place shortly after PM Modi arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the first leg of his five-nation diplomatic tour, which also includes visits to several European nations. In a significant gesture underscoring the strength of India-UAE ties, the Prime Minister was personally received at the airport by the UAE President and accorded a ceremonial guard of honour.

“We condemned the attacks on the UAE. The way UAE has been targeted is not acceptable,” PM Modi said during his opening remarks at the bilateral meeting.

The Prime Minister further added that India is prepared to extend “all possible support” to promote peace and stability in the region, highlighting the global impact of the ongoing conflict.

“The impact of the West Asian conflict is being felt globally. India is ready to extend all possible support to bring peace in West Asia,” Modi stated.

The UAE, home to a major US military base, has recently faced Iranian strikes amid the intensifying regional conflict. The discussions between the two leaders are believed to have focused on regional security, energy cooperation, supply chain resilience, and strengthening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Energy security is expected to remain a key focus area for both countries, especially as concerns grow over oil supplies, maritime trade routes, and tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

Following his arrival, PM Modi also shared a message on social media thanking Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm welcome.

“I extend my thanks to my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, for his gracious gesture in receiving me at Abu Dhabi Airport,” Modi wrote.

The visit comes at a critical geopolitical moment, with widening divisions among Gulf nations over oil production policies, regional alignments involving Israel and Iran, and the broader security situation in West Asia.
