Prahlad Gunjal Demands Tough Action After Atar Singh Bhadana’s Death
Prahlad Gunjal Atar Singh Bhadana remarks in Jaipur have intensified the political response to the death of former BJP MLA Atar Singh Bhadana, who died after a violent clash linked to a long-running stone crusher and mining dispute in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district.
Police said Bhadana was allegedly attacked with sticks and stones after tensions escalated at a crusher site in Bhonda village under Weir police station. He later died from his injuries.
#WATCH | Jaipur, Rajasthan: On former MLA Atar Singh Bhadana’s death after assault, former MLA Prahlad Gunjal says, "It is an unprecedented event for a public representative—a former MLA—to be surrounded and killed in broad daylight at his place of business. If the strictest possible action is not taken, and if the layers of protection shielding the perpetrators are not peeled back to expose and imprison them, the morale of criminals across Rajasthan will soar...if a precedent is set where public representatives can be murdered, consider it an open gateway for criminals...the fact that such an incident has occurred for the first time under the Bhajanlal government leads me to believe that, on moral grounds, both of them should resign..."

Gunjal Calls Incident ‘Unprecedented’
Former MLA Prahlad Gunjal described Bhadana’s death as a deeply serious law-and-order failure and said those responsible must face the strongest possible action.
He said:
“It is an unprecedented event for a public representative—a former MLA—to be surrounded and killed in broad daylight at his place of business.”
Gunjal argued that if the case is not pursued rigorously, it could send a dangerous message to criminal elements across Rajasthan.
‘Protection Shielding Perpetrators Must Be Exposed’
Gunjal alleged that any “layers of protection” shielding those involved should be exposed and those responsible should be jailed.
His remarks were political allegations and did not identify any proven protection network. The police investigation into the attack is still underway.
Reports indicate that authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the clash and identifying those involved.
Bhadana Died After Crusher-Site Clash
Atar Singh Bhadana, a former BJP MLA from Bayana, was attacked after he reached a crusher site in Bharatpur where a long-running dispute over mining operations, access and alleged encroachment had been continuing.
Reports said a large group of villagers gathered at the site and a violent confrontation followed. Bhadana was seriously injured and later died after being taken for medical treatment.
Gunjal Raises Law-and-Order Concerns
Gunjal said the killing of a former elected representative could have wider consequences for public confidence in law enforcement.
He warned that if such an incident is allowed to pass without strict punishment, it could encourage criminals and create a perception that even public representatives are not safe.
That assessment reflects Gunjal’s political position rather than a judicial finding about Rajasthan’s overall law-and-order situation.
Calls for Resignations on Moral Grounds
Gunjal also said the incident had occurred under the Bhajanlal Sharma government and argued that, on moral grounds, those he held politically responsible should resign.
He said:
“The fact that such an incident has occurred for the first time under the Bhajanlal government leads me to believe that, on moral grounds, both of them should resign.”
His resignation demand is a political call and not based on any established finding of personal responsibility.
Police Investigation Continues
The Prahlad Gunjal Atar Singh Bhadana controversy now adds further political pressure around a case already drawing scrutiny over the handling of the mining dispute and whether preventive action could have stopped the confrontation from turning deadly.
Police continue to investigate the attack, while political leaders are demanding accountability and stronger action against those found responsible.
