President Ram Nath Kovind reached Kingston on his political visit to Jamaica. He is the first president of India to visit Jamaica. Jamaica Governor General Patrick Allen and Prime Minister Andrew Holnes welcomed the President at the airport.
On his arrival, President Ram Nath Kovind was accorded ceremonial reception starting with 21 Gun salute. President Kovind is on a state visit to Jamaica, St. Vincent and Grenadines. This is the first ever visit by an Indian Head of State to these Caribbean nations.
This visit of President Ram Nath Kovind takes place in the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
