Putin Expresses Confidence in Modi-Xi Dialogue to Resolve Border Disputes
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed Moscow's neutral stance on India-China relations, stating that Russia will not interfere in the "delicate" bilateral ties between New Delhi and Beijing.
Speaking during an interaction with the heads of major global news agencies on Thursday, Putin expressed confidence that both Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are committed to resolving their long-standing border disputes through dialogue and peaceful means.
"President Xi and Prime Minister Modi are both trying to resolve all the issues of mutual interest, including the border issue," Putin said.
The Russian leader's remarks come at a time when India and China have been gradually rebuilding diplomatic and military engagement following the deadly Galwan Valley clashes in 2020 and the prolonged border standoff that lasted more than four years.
Highlighting Russia's balanced approach in Asia, Putin emphasized that Moscow's strategic partnerships with both India and China have evolved naturally over decades and are independent of each other. He underscored that Russia maintains strong relations with both nations while respecting their sovereignty and bilateral decision-making processes.
The comments reflect Moscow's continued effort to maintain strategic equilibrium among major Asian powers amid shifting geopolitical dynamics and regional security challenges.
