Sukhendu Sekhar Ray Resigns as Rajya Sabha MP and Quits Trinamool Congress
Senior politician Sukhendu Sekhar Ray has resigned from his position as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and from the primary membership of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).
In a press statement, Ray said that the people of West Bengal had delivered a historic mandate in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking the first time in the state's history that voters had overwhelmingly supported the party to bring an end to what he described as 15 years of "anarchical rule" under the Trinamool Congress.
He alleged widespread corruption, atrocities against women, and failures in key sectors including healthcare, education, industry, law and order, and employment as factors behind the electoral verdict.
"Respectfully accepting this historic verdict of the people, I have resigned," Ray stated, announcing his decision to step down from both his parliamentary position and party membership.
His resignation comes amid significant political developments in West Bengal and is expected to generate considerable discussion within the state's political landscape.
Political observers believe the move could have implications for the future dynamics of opposition politics and party alignments in the state.
