Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the two leaders discussing key aspects of the India-Russia partnership, economic cooperation and upcoming diplomatic engagements.

During the meeting, President Putin referred to the recent visit of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to Moscow, saying Jaishankar had conveyed PM Modi’s message and that he fully shared everything discussed during the visit.

Putin highlighted the significance of the upcoming 80th anniversary of India-Russia diplomatic relations, which will be celebrated next year. He also said both countries are making serious preparations for the upcoming BRICS Summit in New Delhi in September.

On bilateral economic ties, Putin said India-Russia trade and economic cooperation were showing positive momentum. He noted that while trade had increased slightly last year, bilateral trade turnover grew by 2.6% in the first half of 2026.

The Russian President also referred to the recent session of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission hosted in Moscow, saying the meeting had produced good results.

The remarks highlight the continued momentum in India-Russia economic cooperation and the importance of high-level engagement as both nations prepare for major diplomatic milestones.
