Trump Claims Major Progress Against Iran, Hints at Endgame in Middle East Conflict
U.S. President Donald J. Trump has claimed that the United States is “very close” to achieving its strategic military objectives against Iran, signaling a potential winding down of American military involvement in the Middle East. In a strongly worded statement posted on social media, Trump outlined five key objectives that he said were nearing completion. These include the complete degradation of Iran’s missile capabilities, dismantling of its defense industrial base, and elimination of its naval and air force assets, including anti-aircraft systems. Trump also emphasized a long-standing U.S. goal—preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons capability—while maintaining readiness for rapid military response if required. The President further highlighted the importance of protecting U.S. allies in the region, naming Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait as key partners. Addressing maritime security, Trump stated that the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz should be “guarded and policed” by nations that rely on it for energy transit. He suggested that the United States would offer support if requested, but indicated that regional powers should take primary responsibility once Iran’s threat is neutralized. Trump described the potential policing of the Strait as an “easy military operation” for allied nations, underscoring his broader argument for reducing direct U.S. involvement while maintaining strategic influence. The remarks come amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East and renewed global concerns over energy security, regional stability, and nuclear proliferation.
