Trump Says Talks with Putin and Zelenskyy on Ukraine Conflict Were ‘Productive’
US President Donald Trump said the G7 Summit provided an opportunity to discuss several critical international issues, including the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Speaking during the summit in Evian, Trump revealed that he held a productive conversation focused on the Ukraine conflict and engaged directly with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"The past two days have also provided an opportunity to discuss a number of other key issues with members of the G7 and our partners. Yesterday morning, we had a productive conversation on the war in Ukraine. I spoke with President Putin, and I spoke with President Zelenskyy. He was there," Trump said.
His remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts by world leaders to seek pathways toward de-escalation and a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The Ukraine war remains one of the central topics on the agenda of international leaders gathered at the summit.
The G7 meeting has brought together heads of state and government from leading economies, with discussions covering global security, economic cooperation, energy stability, and geopolitical challenges. Trump's comments underscore the continued international focus on diplomatic engagement between Russia and Ukraine as the conflict enters another critical phase.
