India celebrated a memorable evening in athletics as Yashvir Singh produced a sensational final-round throw to win the bronze medal in the men's javelin throw at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 24-year-old registered a stunning personal best of 85.41m on his sixth and final attempt, completing a dramatic comeback and securing India's second medal in the event.

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra added to the celebrations by claiming the silver medal with a season-best throw of 85.83m, ensuring India finished with a remarkable double podium at Scotstoun Stadium.
Yashvir's Incredible Final Throw
Entering the final round in seventh place with a best effort of 81.33m, Yashvir needed something extraordinary to reach the podium. Rising to the occasion, the Commonwealth Games debutant unleashed a massive 85.41m throw, surpassing his previous personal best of 83.72m and vaulting into the bronze-medal position.

A Star on the Rise

Yashvir Singh's bronze medal marks the biggest achievement of his career so far. He first attracted national attention in 2021 by breaking Neeraj Chopra's U20 Federation Cup record. Since then, he has steadily progressed, crossing the 80m mark in 2022 and gaining valuable international experience at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships and the World Athletics Championships.

His breakthrough performance in Glasgow confirms his emergence as one of India's brightest javelin prospects and reinforces India's growing dominance in the discipline on the international stage.
