Celebrity Nutritionist Rashi Chowdhary Shares Key Tips on Women’s Reproductive Health with Samantha Ruth Prabhu

A recent conversation between nutritionist Rashi Chowdhary and actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has brought attention to simple yet impactful ways women can improve their reproductive health. When Samantha requested the “top five things” women should follow, Chowdhary responded that even four key habits can reduce nearly 70% of common health issues.

Start the day with healthy fats

Chowdhary emphasized the importance of beginning the day with healthy fats such as macadamia nuts, Brazil nuts, or walnuts. She explained that hormonal balance is closely linked to stable blood sugar levels, and fat intake plays a crucial role in maintaining that balance.

Prioritise protein with every meal

She also highlighted the need for adequate protein intake, especially when consuming carbohydrates. Eggs, lentils, or protein shakes can help meet daily requirements. According to her, most Indian women need around 80 grams of protein daily, ideally maintaining a balanced ratio of protein to carbohydrates.

Finish dinner early

One of the most challenging yet effective habits, according to Chowdhary, is having an early dinner—ideally by 5:30 pm. While Samantha pointed out how difficult this can be, Chowdhary noted that those who follow this routine often experience significant health benefits.

Address emotional well-being

Beyond diet, Chowdhary stressed the importance of emotional health. Unprocessed emotions, she explained, can manifest as physical health problems over time, making emotional awareness and stress management essential.

Medical experts weigh in

Supporting these insights, Dr. M V Jyothsna, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, highlighted that frequent consumption of processed foods can disrupt hormonal balance and lead to issues such as irregular periods, PCOS, and fertility challenges. She recommended a balanced diet rich in iron, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein.

Dr. Jyothsna also underlined the importance of stress management and proper sleep, as chronic stress and irregular routines can negatively affect hormonal cycles. Practices like exercise, yoga, and meditation can significantly improve overall reproductive health.

Maintaining menstrual and sexual hygiene is equally vital, as many infections are preventable through simple care and safe practices. Women should also pay attention to warning signs like pelvic pain, unusual discharge, or irregular bleeding and seek timely medical advice.

Finally, she stressed the need for regular gynaecological check-ups, noting that many women tend to prioritise others’ health over their own. Routine screenings and consultations help in early detection and effective treatment of potential issues.
