TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the BJP during a rally in Balurghat on Tuesday. Addressing a massive crowd, Banerjee dismantled the saffron party’s “double-engine government” narrative, questioning why the constituency remains neglected despite electing both a BJP Member of Parliament (MP) and a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
Balurghat, it’s time to turn this overwhelming presence into a clear stand.
Stand up, stand together, and show that Bengal will not bow to Delhi’s zamindars. This land belongs to its people!

Banerjee challenged the BJP leadership to a direct comparison of welfare schemes, asserting that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has delivered tangible benefits to the people of Bengal while the Central government has consistently blocked funds for essential projects.
”They talk about a double engine, but in Balurghat, both engines have stalled,” Banerjee remarked. “The people gave them the mandate, but the Centre gave the people nothing in return. Where are the promised developments?”
The TMC leader further emphasized that the state’s flagship schemes, such as Lakshmir Bhandar and Kanyashree, have reached every household regardless of political affiliation, contrasting this with what he described as the BJP’s “politics of deprivation.”
