China reached 205 total medals, capturing more gold medals than the rest of the top 10 nations combined. Sweeping titles across gymnastics, shooting, swimming, and weightlifting, the athletic powerhouse has established a lead that effectively secures top spot in the overall standings with a week of competition remaining.
Host Advantage: Japan currently holds second position with 37 gold medals and an impressive 157 overall.
