Union Home Minister Amit Shah has intensified the political battle in West Bengal by releasing a ‘people’s chargesheet’ against the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), targeting its 15-year governance record.
The document accuses the TMC government of major failures across multiple sectors, including:
Employment Crisis: Alleged loss of nearly 30 lakh jobs
Women’s Safety: Reported 34,738 crimes against women in 2023
Border Security: Around 569 km of the India-Bangladesh border remains unfenced
Shah framed these issues as evidence of governance lapses, positioning them at the center of the upcoming electoral debate.
According to Shah, the upcoming polls—scheduled for April 23 and 29—represent a decisive choice for voters:
A choice between “fear under TMC rule” and “development under BJP governance.”
The BJP is using this chargesheet as a campaign tool to consolidate voter sentiment ahead of the high-stakes elections.
In response, the All India Trinamool Congress is preparing its own counter-chargesheet targeting Amit Shah and the BJP-led central government.
This escalating exchange signals a sharp political showdown, with both sides focusing heavily on governance, accountability, and public perception in the run-up to polling.
