The Delhi Government has imposed a complete ban on the direct sale of LPG cylinders from godowns, tightening regulations to ensure safety and proper distribution practices across the capital.

Delhi’s New LPG Policy: No Direct Sales from Godowns, Focus on Accessibility

In line with the directive, Oil Marketing Companies have issued clear instructions to all LPG distributors, stating that any sale of cylinders directly from storage facilities is illegal and will invite strict action.

Strict Enforcement Measures

Authorities have emphasized that distributors must adhere strictly to prescribed delivery and sales norms. Any violation of the new rule could lead to penalties, suspension of licenses, or further legal action.

The move is aimed at curbing unauthorized sales, improving safety standards, and ensuring transparency in LPG distribution.

Boost to 5-kg Cylinder Availability

To address accessibility challenges—especially for individuals without proper address proof—the government has simultaneously increased the availability of smaller 5-kg LPG cylinders across the city.

This initiative is expected to benefit:

Migrant workers

Students and temporary residents

Low-income households

By expanding access to smaller cylinders, the government aims to make clean cooking fuel more inclusive and widely available.

Focus on Safety and Inclusion

Officials stated that the dual approach—strict enforcement combined with improved accessibility—will help streamline LPG distribution while ensuring that vulnerable sections of society are not excluded from essential services.
